What is Ju jitsu? |
Well, it is a martial art, from Japan,
with its roots buried in mythology and modern form deriving
from the constant battles though out Japan by the feuding
clans.
During the Togugawa period (1800-1868) there were about 700 styles of ju-jitsu, Each of these would have an influence on what we
would consider modern ju jitsu, as there were brought across
to the West from Japan and East towards America.
It also spawned
other martial arts, most notably aikido and judo. |
|
Ok, so what do you actually do?
|
Locks, throws, atemi work, kicking and
punching, chokes and strangles and hold-downs. |
|
Oh, so do I have to be super-fit?
|
No, everyone is different in build and
fitness, and so the Ju Jitsu can be tailored to
personal needs by the senior coach. People in wheel chairs
have been taught, as well as people with hearing or visual
difficulties. |

I’ve heard
dodgy reports about some clubs with no instructor
qualifications. |
Unfortunately, so have we! But rest
assured, all the Instructors within the World Ju Jitsu
Federation in Lincolnshire all have had the proper training,
and all have a First Aid certificate as a minimum. If in
doubt, ask to see their qualifications! The next time you go
to the Club, the Instructor, if he/she is bona fida, will
show these.

What do I do now? |
Well, just come down to one of the Club, Grantham Lincoln or
Newark and have a chat or get on the mat. It’s up to you! |
